Cardiopulmonary Program Our hospitals specialize in comprehensive rehabilitative cardiopulmonary care for adult and geriatric patients with difficulty breathing due to complex and unresolved acute illnesses, as well as multi-organ failure, diseases, complications or severe injury. Most of our patients in the cardiopulmonary program are transferred from an ICU or general medical and surgical beds in short-term acute care (STAC) hospitals because they are in need of a longer acute hospital recovery period to reach their full recovery potential. These include patients: Upon physician order, our in-patient cardiopulmonary/respiratory therapeutic services are provided by Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) on a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week basis, with diagnostic procedures scheduled as needed. RCP's - who include both registered respiratory therapists and certified respiratory therapists - work under the direction of a board certified physician and medical director to deliver quality cardiopulmonary/respiratory care.
